Smart Tips for Maintaining Your Car's Finish

As summer winds down in North Texas, we’re all grateful for slightly cooler temperatures and more pleasant weather. The heat can feel endlessly intense, and that can lead to neglect of essential tasks like washing your car or doing pretty much any outdoor chore.

It’s so important to care for your vehicle’s exterior, especially in the summer when the intense heat just accelerates the impact of road grime, sap, bird poop and insect gunk on your paint job. Here’s how a late summer car wash can help you protect your paint job.

Beat the summer heat. Removing road grime before the heat bakes it on to your car can help manage the effects of intense heat and sun exposure.  The longer you leave bird droppings, sap and insect gunk still hanging on from your summer road trip, the harder they become to remove, especially during periods of intense heat with little to no precipitation. Remove them promptly to minimize long-term paint damage. Even if you don’t have time to drop by the car wash, grab some wet paper towels to remove droppings from the paint until you can get your car professionally washed.

Guard against sun damage. We’ve explained before that a high-quality wax acts as a protective measure against the fading caused by the sun’s intense UV rays. Intense summer sun and heat can cause your clear coat to fail leading to paint fade and even feeling. The longer you neglect your paint job, the more signs of aging you will notice. Washing your car in the late summer helps prevent these signs by guarding against oxidation and fade

Optimize your car wash schedule. Washing your car during extreme heat or extreme cold is not ideal. If you have no other option but to wash during the hottest part of the day, it’s better than not washing at all. However, timing your trip through our tunnel for mornings or evenings will help prevent soap and water from drying too quickly and will keep you more comfortable while utilizing our vacuum stations. Get the most from your monthly membership by washing at least once a week!

Resourceful use of water. At Snap Clean, we utilize Velocity Waterworks Reverse Osmosis system to purify water by removing spot-causing minerals. Like a water-softening system, we remove the contaminants that leave behind cloudy residue which does not belong on your paint job! We also recapture, purify and reuse as much water as we can to conserve this valuable resource, making our tunnel wash much more eco-friendly than washing in the driveway at home. The result is a beautiful, spot-free shine our customers love and can feel good about.

Take care of you. Summer is a deceptively fast-paced season. Kids are home from school. Expectations for perfect vacations and fun-filled summer events are high. While taking care of necessary tasks, don’t neglect to take care of you. Washing your car? Stay hydrated, wear sun protection and flag us down if you need a bottle of water while you’re vacuuming out the car. We’re here to serve our customers and make sure everyone leaves with a clean vehicle and a smile.

If you’ve been meaning to wash your car but feel like you just. can’t. even. with those 100-degree summer days, you are not alone! Snap Clean makes it easy to care for your car no matter the temperature. Drop by today to grab a great wash in less than five minutes. You’ll feel better, and your car will look all the better too!
